Data Visualization for Hypothesis Verification
The following visualizations are hypothesis verification about what we generally assume or believe. Firstly, the 2022 data still explains that Africa is a continent with highest number of countries with extreme poverty. Secondly, high cardiovascular countries tend to have high smokers as well, both male and female. Lastly, high GDP countries tend to have higher number of diabetes case and lower cardiovascular disease.
Slow progress in Africa has been causing the slowdown of extreme poverty reduction (World Bank, 2020). Approximately 40% of total its population live under international poverty line, a USD 1.9 income a day. It is now exacerbated by pandemic, prolonged conflicts, and climate change.
Smokers, both active and passive, are exposed to heart disease by increasing fatty deposits (plaque) at the site of the injury in the arteries — a disease known as atherosclerosis (WHO, 2020). In fact, this coronary heart disease caused deaths accounted for 1.9 million people per year due to tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke, which actually can be avoided.
